On September 16 at the Santa Clara University Faculty Dinner following the University Convocation, Professor Stephanie Wildman received the President’s Special Recognition Award.
"This award is a well-deserved recognition as one of the law school’s most prominent national figures, who just completed three years of service on the Executive Committee of the Association of American Law Schools." wrote Santa Clara University President, Paul Locatelli, S.J. in his award letter. "As a faculty member, you are a model teaching scholar," he added, "and you have brought your scholarly interests to your students and have been nationally recognized for your teaching."
At the dinner, President Locatelli highlighted many of Wildman’s achievements, scholarship, and awards, including her work as founder and director of the Center for Social Justice and Public Service, her SCU Discover Curriculum Development Grant, and the 2007 Great Teacher Award she received from the Society of American Law Teachers (SALT).
The founder and director of Santa Clara Law’s Center for Social Justice and Public Service, Stephanie M. Wildman earned her A.B. and J.D. degrees from Stanford. She taught for 25 years at the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she is a professor emerita. She has been a visiting professor at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law; the U.C. Davis School of Law; U.C. Hastings College of the Law; and Stanford Law School. She is past co-president of SALT and has served on the Board of Governors. She is past chair of the Teaching Methods, Law and Community, and Women in Legal Education sections of the Association of American Law Schools. She was the Founding Director of the Center for Social Justice at Boalt/U.C. Berkeley Law School.
