Santa Clara Law is pleased to announce that 2010 graduate Linda Wuestehube is the winner of the annual Jan Jancin Award for top intellectual-property law student in the nation.

The Award is given by the American Intellectual Property Law Education Foundation (AIPLEF) of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) to the top law student in the nation, who has most excelled in the study of intellectual property law. Linda is the first Santa Clara Law graduate to receive the award since AIPLEF began awarding it in 1998. Linda will be presented with the award at a luncheon at the AIPLA Mid-Winter Institute in Orlando, FL on February 3.

Linda received a B.S. in biology from UCLA and a Ph.D. in biochemistry and cell biology from Princeton University. Linda was in the inaugural class of IP Fellows at the law school, which awarded her a full-tuition scholarship. During her tenure at Santa Clara, she won numerous other prestigious recognitions, including the Mabie Award for the Outstanding Graduate of her class, and the grand prize in the 2010 San Francisco IP Law Association’s writing competition. She also served on the executive board of the Health Care Law Society, was a comments editor for the Santa Clara Computer and High Tech Law Journal and was a member of the Biotechnology Law Association.

Since graduating, Linda has been admitted to practice in California. She is continuing her work as an independent science and medical writer while exploring opportunities in law. Her career goals include helping biotechnology companies and research institutes protect their intellectual property
