Centers that focus on public interest and social justice law signal an important new trend in legal education. Instilling professional values, like the legal profession’s obligation to provide public service and access to justice, begins in law school. Santa Clara ’s faculty shares a commitment both to social justice and public interest work and to the joy of sharing their knowledge. Faculty teach cutting edge, social justice-oriented classes that provide theoretical, practical, and skills training. Clinical opportunities with the Northern California Innocence Project and the Katharine and George Alexander Community Law Center and volunteer opportunities allow students to serve community needs for social justice while studying law.
