Scott Maurer, supervising attorney and associate clinical professor in consumer law at the Katharine and George Alexander Community Law Center, wrote an op-ed for the San Jose Mercury News on a recent study by the Consumer Financial Protection Board on “forced arbitration” – contract provisions that compel consumers buying everything from phones to cars to waive their right to sue in court if a dispute arises, even if the dispute involves fraud.
