Alums Christine Peek ’04 and Eric M. Hutchins ’06 are two of 62 lawyers statewide to receive the 19th annual awards for California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year from California Lawyer. Mr. Hutchins, formerly of Kilpatrick Townsend, San Francisco was named in the category of Intellectual Property for his work representing memory-cell maker Sidense Corp. in an infringement lawsuit, easing the way for defendants to obtain attorneys fees when they prevail in patent litigation. Ms. Peek, of McManis Faulkner in San Jose was named in the categor of Civil Rights. Her team made the first successful challenge to the secret federal no-fly list. After two dismissals, the District Court found after a bench trial that the government erroneously placed their client on the list in violation of her due process rights. Read the press release.
