Santa Clara University School of Law alumnus Robert L. Hoover, J.D. ’59, founder of Hoover Krepelka, LLP, recently celebrated his 85th birthday and 56th year practicing family law.

From Hoover Krepelka:

Mr. Hoover is a graduate of Santa Clara University, School of Law, and began practicing law in 1960. As one of the pioneers of family law in Santa Clara County, Mr. Hoover has appeared in front of over 100 judges, has employed over 100 employees, handled over 5,000 cases, and was instrumental in establishing the Judge Pro-Tem system which is now a fundamental part of the Santa Clara County court system today.

Mr. Hoover has been profiled in several national publications, has lectured extensively and continues to offer complimentary one hour legal strategy sessions for those in the community seeking advice in regards to divorce and family law related matters. He has been a trusted attorney to thousands of clients, including hundreds of C-level executives in Silicon Valley and many high-profile divorce cases. His practice has steadily grown into one of the largest firms in Northern California to exclusively focus in family law.

Mr. Hoover has completed 18 marathons and two ultra-marathons. He has bicycled from Canada to Mexico and is an international kayaker. He continues to be a technical mountain climber and will be once again hiking Mt. Shasta and the Kalalau Trail this year. Mr. Hoover is an avid reader and enjoys keeping current in all national and international events. He enjoys traveling the globe with his family, friends and his lovely wife Gale.

Perhaps most notable is the final line from the birthday announcement: “[Hoover] has no plans for retirement.”

The entire Santa Clara Law community wishes him many happy returns!
