Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge (Ret.) Mark Thomas '56 passed away recently after a prolonged illness. Judge Thomas wrote "From Promise to Prominence", the history of Santa Clara Law. More recently he has been involved developing oral histories in advance of the law school's centennial. Judge Thomas served our law school in numerous ways over the years including serving on the Law Alumni Board, Board of Visitors, the Centennial Celebration Committee, and as a mentor.

A memorial service is planned for July 31 at St. Francis Episcopal Church in San Jose. Donations in Judge Thomas's honor can be made to the Judge's Scholarship Fund at Santa Clara University School of Law.
