International Human Rights Clinic (IHRC) students Krysha Chatman, Ruby Renteria, and Forest Miles traveled to Costa Rica during Spring Break to visit areas affected by contaminated water used in pineapple plantations. The President of Costa Rica’s Legislative Assembly and IHRC Director Francisco Rivera convened and participated in a joint press conference, along with local partners and affected communities, to discuss an upcoming hearing before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in Washington D.C. that will address the human right to clean water in Costa Rica.

During their time in Costa Rica, these students interviewed community members and spoke with experts in the field. They will also travel to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights hearing, scheduled on March 20th.

Below are some news articles from Costa Rican sources that cover the work by the IHRC.
