Howard Charney MBA’73, JD’77, Dean Lisa Kloppenberg and Assistant Dean Rupa Bhandari JD ’05 co-authored an article in the Silicon Valley Business Journal about the skills that Silicon Valley companies need from their attorneys.

“Lawyers today must independently acquire the skills they need to put on the hat of a marketer, salesperson, business developer or even coder. Such “self-development” was the top legal skill that employers have told us they most needed in lawyers.

They also want relationship and team-building skills, such as effective communication, client service and creative problem-solving skills — business skills not traditionally emphasized in law school.”
