Special congratulations to the SCU Juvenile Law Team who competed in the 19th Annual National Juvenile Law Moot Court Competition hosted by Whittier Law School in Southern California!  Our team members were Hugo Meza and Lauren Rios, who advanced to the quarterfinals out of the 24 teams that participated.  The competition was held on February 7-8, 2014 in Costa Mesa.   The coach was Roxanne Alavi of the Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, and their gracious HMCE Competition Manager was Allison Fung.

Congratulations also to Rachel Pietron & Celine Purcell for representing SCU Law at INTA’s Western Region Rounds of the 23rd Annual Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Trademark Competition. They were among 23 teams vying for a chance to go to the national rounds in DC in March.  The two did a great job representing SCU Law at the Ninth Circuit Courthouse in San Francisco, California on February 8, 2014.  Their coach was SCU Law Alum Jeremiah Armstrong, Esq. of McDermott Will & Emery.  Their tireless HMCE Competition Manager was Gam Galindo.

Finally, HMCE congrats to Sara Rose, Clay LaPoint and Curtis Wheaton who braved the snow and competed in New York, NY this week (February 10-13, 2014) at the 64th Annual New York City Bar National Moot Court Competition. This year’s topics were Dormant Commerce Clause and First Amendment issues.  Their coach was Prof. Yvonne Ekern and their cheerful HMCE competition manager was Natalie Kirkish.  This NYC team is the first SCU team in recent memory to advance to the national rounds of this prestigious competition!

Our teams worked hard over winter break to prepare for these events.  Thank you to all who helped support our teams through the process. Without you, their successes would not be possible.
