Mission Statement:
The Student Intellectual Property Law Association (SIPLA) is one of the largest and most active groups at Santa Clara University School of Law (SCU). SIPLA supports the continued development of an active and meaningful intellectual property curriculum and supports SCU’s reputation as an educational leader of intellectual property law. SIPLA’s main goal is to provide a forum where students can come together to discuss and learn about intellectual property issues. In addition, SIPLA provides students with a connection to attorneys practicing intellectual property law so that students may better position themselves for careers in that area. SIPLA seeks to supplement course offerings by sponsoring programs and activities that contribute to the development of legal knowledge and skills in the field of intellectual property. On Tuesdays, SIPLA holds "High Tech Tuesdays” where local IP practitioners discuss emerging intellectual property issues as well as other aspects of their careers. SIPLA is committed to helping its members succeed by providing a mentor program for first year students. In addition, SIPLA provides members with employment resources by holding mock On-Campus Interviews with local practitioners and by sending out an annual resume book to the Silicon Valley’s and Bay Area’s most prominent law firms. SIPLA also hosts various networking events throughout the school year allowing students to interact with the large number of SIPLA alumni.
