Association for the Protection of Cultural Property

Student Life

IMG_5375Mission Statement:

The purpose of the Association for the Protection of Cultural Property is to foster greater awareness of the common artistic and cultural heritage belonging to all people, and to promote its protection through international law and policy. Our goal is to raise awareness of the issues surrounding cultural property protection and to further thought and dialogue by examining relevant practice and policy both historically and as it has been shaped by modern events. We believe that protection of this cultural and artistic legacy is a goal that transcends all borders and political perspectives and that all of mankind has an interest in its preservation.

Description:

Our association organizes speaking events with Cultural Heritage Law thought leaders and practitioners from around the world. We work directly with UNESCO to coordinate student internships in the field of cultural property protection. We facilitate round-table discussions and collaborative writing projects to engage with other organizations and institutions dedicated to the preservation of cultural property. Offering a meeting point between law and the humanities, the association further seeks to broaden discussion of the topic by engaging with a range of academic departments, such as Art History, Archeology, Anthropology, and Museum Studies, and with other universities and law schools.
