The Heafey Law Library is pleased to announce that we now have a Meditation Room available to law students, staff, and faculty located in the library.

The room is Heafey 123 near the Research Services offices.  It is our hope that students utilize this space for silent meditation, prayer, and reflection.  A number of studies have demonstrated the value of mindfulness and meditation and its connection to academic achievement.  We aspire to make mindfulness a practice at Santa Clara Law that is open to everyone regardless of religious affiliation or background.

In addition to our new meditation room, the library is making available an array of relaxation accouterments for student use.  We now have games, puzzles, art materials, and other “fun” stuff available for use in the library.  Come swing by the library and decompress after a long day of study and/or exams.

The Prayer of Saint Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.
