How to Add a Smart Printer at the Harrington Learning Commons

For Windows Installs

(Before installing any printer, you will need to know the location and the printer name before trying to install.)

* Go to http://it.scu.edu/SmartPrint/xpclient.shtml, locate "Harrington Learning Commons", click on the printer name and follow the Instructions listed below: 

* From the "Pharos for Windows page", find the printer you wish to install and click on the location's link.

* Click on Run when asked "Do you want to run or save the file?"

If you get the message "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run the software?", click on Run. A Pharos dialog box will be displayed.

* Click on the Install button at the bottom right of the dialog box. The print driver and Pharos client will be installed automatically.When you see the message "Finished Installing. The installation is successful. Select Finish to exit.", click on the Finish button at the bottom right of the dialog box.

You are now ready to print to the Smart print printer you just installed.

How to install Smart Print for Mac:

(Before installing any printer, you will need to know the location and the printer name before trying to install.) 

Go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences.

Find and double-click on Print & Fax.

Make sure the Printing button is highlighted.

Click on the plus sign (+) to add a printer.

Click on IP Printer.

Use the Configuration Table (below) to fill out the printer information:

Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD

Server Address: Use the address from the Server Address column below.

Queue Name: Use the name from the Queue Name column below.

Name: Use the name from the Printer Location column below.

Location: Use the name from the Printer Location column below.

Model: Use the printer model listed in the Printer Driver column below.

Click the Add button and then the Continue button.
