Academic & Professional Development

The Academic & Professional Development Department ("APD") provides supplemental programs and services directly to SCU Law students at every stage and level of study to improve their academic performance and skills for successful entry into law practice.

 

APD is committed to all students getting the fullest benefit of law school teaching methods, regardless of their unique needs or backgrounds. APD also assists faculty and administration in coordinating classroom offerings.

 

APD addresses the needs of First Year students through its extensive Academic Success Program("ASP") which includes practice exams, skills workshops, student-led tutorials tied classes, and individual tutoring. APD also offers a Lawyering Skills class for eligible ASP students in the spring of their first year.

 

APD hosts "Bar Fair Week" for all students to learn about the resources of commercial Bar preparation programs.

 

The Advanced Legal Writing: Analysis course is offered for Directed Study students in their Second Year.

 

For Upper Division Students, APD's professional development programming includes managing legal Externships and Internships available for credit.

 

APD presents an in-house Bar Preparation series for students in their final year of study.
