After graduating from Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco in 1986, Lynette Parker clerked for two years for Administrative Law Judges in the Department of Labor. Since then she has been practicing immigration law. For 10 years, she worked for a nonprofit agency in Oakland representing thousands of immigrant families in their legal immigration matters. She joined the Community Law Center in March 2000. Her experience includes family petitions, citizenship, political asylum, and deportations defense.  Her particular expertise is representing battered immigrant women and children in petitioning for their residence. Lynette Parker is a regional expert in VAWA cases, and has been involved in educating the community and other immigration attorneys about remedies available to battered women and children.  She lived in Puerto Rico and India as a child, and is fluent in Spanish.
