About the Program: An Overview
Santa Clara began its Seoul program in 1994. Our 2009 program will introduce students to the Korean legal system, and then explore business and high technology law at Kookmin University. Students will also study related human rights issues at the Korean Human Rights Commission.
Enrollment is limited to twenty students.
About Kookmin University: Kookmin is a highly regarded private university that has emphasized its particular strength in business and intellectual property law. The University has its roots in the immediate post World War II years and gained university status in 1981. Most of its buildings have been built in this relocated campus over the past 20 years. The law school building was completed in 1999. The University sits in a suburban area, near hotels and restaurants and within easy reach by public transit (subway or bus) of central Seoul.
The program will include visits to and briefings at the Korean Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the Legal Training and Research Institute for all students.
Students will have use of the libraries at both Kookmin University and the Human Rights Commission. Each has extensive English language holdings.
