No Excuses, Play Like a Champion
October 06, 2009 at 6:30 PM

After we exit the gridiron of a practice torts exam, "The Firm” will go up against the undergrad elite on the other gridiron. Yes, tomorrow, the best flag football team ever assembled will take the field. Comprised of all law school students, coached by a former D1 defensive end, we have realized our destiny: the ship. Some may say it is an excellent way to blow off steam and get some physical activity in for otherwise stagnant students. Those people are weak. We are here for one thing and one thing only, winning. Sure if we have fun that’s fine, but having fun better not get in the way of winning.
Now, a thing or two may stand in our way. I’m not going to say we don’t pass me the ball enough, but we don’t. I’m not sure if it’s because I insist that our cheer be "Team Marty”, or because there is some innate jealousy of my dominance, but we cannot let it happen. This league is a new frontier for us, the champion t-shirts, our manifest destiny. My back is broad, everyone can climb on, I refuse to let this team lose. All I ask is that we seize this chance for victory, that we achieve our maximum potential; that we realize why we came to law school.
Our game is at 7 tomorrow on the fields across from Domicilio. Anyone who would like to come and cheer us on is more than welcome. I swear I’m going to make the first kid who tries to argue with a ref using law school lingo run a mile.
