International Student Information

No specific grants or scholarships have been set aside exclusively for international students. International students compete with the general applicant pool for scholarships.

 

Foreign students are not eligible for federal student aid (i.e., federal loans, federal work-study).

Eligible Non-Citizens: Documenting Citizenship Status

The Department of Education requires the Financial Aid Office to verify Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) Documents for aid eligibility. Eligible non-citizens must submit BCIS documents within 30 days of receipt of the Student Aid Report. Documents requiring photographs must be of the student after age 14. If the photo was taken prior to age 14, the document must be updated. Contact BCIS immediately. Here is a list of acceptable documents.

 

The ORIGINAL documents, on the following list must be brought into the Financial Aid Office for COPYING. Do not submit photocopies.

 

 

Non-citizen National:

 

U.S. Passport

Must be stamped "Non-citizen National."

Permanent Resident:

 

Passport (Foreign)

Must be stamped "Processed for I-5551" with expiration date.

 

FRONT AND BACK photocopies of the following may be mailed to the Financial Aid Office as long as the student's Social Security Number is written on the copy.

 

Permanent Resident:

 

"Alien Registration Receipt" Form I-151, I-551, or I-551C I-94

The I-551C must have a valid expiration date. Must be stamped "Processed for I-551" with expiration date, or "Temporary Form I-551," with appropriate information filled in.

Other Eligible Non-citizen:

"Temporary Resident Card"

Must have expiration date.

"Arrival-Departure Record" Form I-688

Must be stamped as a Refugee, Asylum Status, Conditional Entrant (before April 1, 1980), Parolee, Cuban-Haitian Entrant.
