Mitchell Zimmerman


Biography

Mitchell Zimmerman is a partner in the Intellectual Property and Litigation Groups at Fenwick & West LLP, and Chair of its Copyright Group. His practice focuses on counseling, litigation and conflict resolution involving copyrights, trademarks, other proprietary rights, and privacy in the context of computer software, digital devices, Internet-based works, and textual authorship. He is also a Neutral of the American Arbitration Association (Large Case Technology, Science & Intellectual Property Roster), and is active in a range of pro bono matters.

Mr. Zimmerman has served as counsel in many cutting edge intellectual property cases, including Paramount v. ReplayTV (copyright fair use in digital video recorders); Brown Bag Software v. Symantec (early "look-and-feel" copyright case); Lotus v. Borland (Lotus 1-2-3 user interface copyrights); and Candle v. Boole & Babbage (early computer software patent).
