Professor of Law, Temple University

Biography

Professor Woodward left private practice as a trial lawyer to teach contract law, commercial law, remedies, and bankruptcy at Indiana University – Indianapolis in 1980 and went from there to Temple University in 1984. Over that period his teaching and scholarship have extended beyond those subject areas into torts, international law, alternative dispute resolution, and conflict of laws. His university work has included service as Temple University's Faculty Senate President, Faculty Handbook Chair, and Senate Personnel Committee Chair as well as service on scores of other committees in the university and law school. He has worked very closely with business lawyer groups primarily focusing on how to better train lawyers and law students in business law areas. Most recently, some of that work has centered on the use of pro bono representation to train law students and lawyers in business law. His drafting work has included service as the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section representative to the committee to redraft Article 1 of the Uniform Commercial Code and he has worked on numerous projects as a member of the American Law Institute. He has written, taught, and lectured broadly on commercial law, bankruptcy, intellectual property, torts, alternative dispute resolution, and legal education topics.
