James Towery specializes in civil litigation, with an emphasis on professional liability defense. He previously served as the chair of a litigation practice group, and also as Risk Management partner. He is a past president of the State Bar of California and of the Santa Clara County Bar Association. He served for ten years in the ABA House of Delegates and chaired the ABA Standing Committee on Client Protection. He currently chairs the State Bar of California Task Force on Insurance Disclosure, and was a member of the California Task Force on Multi-Jurisdictional Practice. He has taught professional responsibility since 2002 at Lincoln Law School in San Jose, and he lectures frequently to lawyer groups on issues of ethics, attorneys' fees and civil litigation. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and of the Inns of Court.
