Biography

Elizabeth A. W. Strickland is the Attorney-Mediator for the Civil Division of the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara. Elizabeth has been a mediator, mediation trainer and mediation program developer and administrator since 1994.


As the Court’s Civil Division ADR Administrator, Elizabeth is responsible for implementing, improving and maintaining all ADR programs for the civil division, including mediation, early settlement conferences, neutral evaluation, and arbitration. Elizabeth has responsibility for ADR rule review, revision and compliance, and ADR program policy and direction.


Elizabeth served as a member of the California Dispute Resolution Council Board of Directors from 2003 to 2008. In that capacity, she was involved in numerous efforts to monitor state ADR legislation and to create consensus regarding standards and definitions of ADR processes and procedures, both in the court-connected arena and in the community-based ADR field.
She also participates in a statewide coalition of Court ADR Administrators that meets quarterly to review new issues in the ADR field, and develop a uniform and consensus-based approach to promotion and administration of court-connected ADR.


Recently, Elizabeth was appointed to the California Judicial Council Civil and Small Claims Advisory Committee, working with judges and court administrators from across the state on issues of pressing concern to the courts. Also, Elizabeth has been serving on the AOC-sponsored committee tasked with creating improvements to the ADR component of the California Case Management System.
