Teri L. K. Shugart
Teri Shugart is in private practice, and represents small businesses and the people that run them. From 2001 - 2005, Teri served on the Corporations Committee of the State Bar of California, and is the Editor of Corporation Committee's soon-to-be published Handbook for Incorporating a Business in California. Teri's experience includes 5 years at Wilson, Sonsini, and 5 years working in-house for Al Shugart International, a venture capital and incubation company. (The missing years were spent being a mom.)
Teri is also a frequent speaker and educator on the issues of gender and sexual orientation harassment and discrimination in schools and in the workplace. Teri served as Co-Chair and Legislative chair of GLSEN Peninsula/South Bay (a two-county chapter of the nation's largest organization working to combat sexual orientation and harassment in K-12 schools), and frequently conducts trainings and MCLE classes on gender issues for educators and attorneys in the San Francisco Bay Area. Teri has also testified before the California State Court of Education and the California Senate Select Committee on School Safety on harassment issues in California schools.
Teri is the author of "Honoring Gender Differences in Children" (Open Hands, Volume 13, No. 1, 1997) and co-author of "Sexual Orientation, Our Children and the Law" (GLSEN, 2000), a manual distributed throughout California to educators and school district superintendents. People having difficult time sleeping can read Teri's article "Legal Opinions in Sale-Leaseback Transactions" in California Business Law Practitioner, Volume IV, No. 3 (1989).
