Mr. Nielsen has lectured for the CEB covering topics such as opening statements & closing arguments, effective direct & cross-examination of witnesses, punitive damages, jury voir dire, fundamentals of civil trial practice, wrongful death, select issues of evidence, direct and cross examination of expert witnesses, and proving damages in the business case. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (specialist rating by California Bar), and is rated "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell. He has been named as a "Northern California Super Lawyer" in commercial litigation by the Law and Politics magazine for the years 2004 - 2009. His published decisions include Strauss v. A.L. Randall Co. (1983) 144 Cal. App. 3d 514 (age discrimination), Wareing v. United States (1996) 943 F.Supp 1504 (medical malpractice), Brassinga v. City of Mountain View (1998) 66 Cal. App. 4th 195 (exclusive remedy rule), Huskey v. City of San Jose (9th Circuit 2000) 204 F.3d 893 (employment discrimination, whistle blower), and E-Fab, Inc. v. Accountants Inc. Services (2007) 153 Cal.App.4th 1308 (application of the delayed discovery rule in an embezzlement case).
