David Hasen joined the Santa Clara University School of Law faculty in 2010. A tax scholar, his work has appeared in the Emory Law Journal, Texas Law Review, Tax Law Review and other journals.

Before coming to SCU, Professor Hasen taught at Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law, and at the University of Michigan Law School. He also has been a visiting professor at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, Hastings College of the Law and the University of Auckland, New Zealand. In 2008-09, he served as the Professor-in-Residence at the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Prior to teaching, Professor Hasen clerked for Judge Maxine Chesney on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and worked as an associate in the tax departments of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, and Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, P.C.

Professor Hasen earned his doctorate in government from Harvard University and his law degree from Yale Law School, where he served as a notes editor of the Yale Law Journal.
