Dr. Yael Fischman
Yael Fischman Ph.D is the Director and founding member of the Institute for Study of Psychosocial Trauma, ISPT, a non-profit organization that provides psychological treatment to survivors of war trauma and political violence. ISPT also offers training to the professional community on psychosocial and clinical aspects of treatment with this population.
Dr. Fischman has lectured on trauma within the U.S and internationally and has served as clinical faculty at the Catholic University of Chile, Antioch University, California School of Psychology in San Francisco, California, and Union Institute in Ohio and Los Angeles, California. Currently she is in private practice of psychotherapy in Palo Alto and Menlo Park, California.
Dr. Fischman's publications address trauma treatment as well as metaclinical issues and ethical challenges involved in this field. Her present focus is the development of models to assist clinicians, health and legal professionals and Human Rights workers in unsafe countries to identify and manage the impact of both primary and secondary trauma.
