The Art of Advocacy Lecture Series: “Appellate Etiquette and Strategy in Oral Argument”

Jim McManis, founding partner of the San Jose law firm McManis-Faulkner, will lecture Santa Clara Law Honors Moot Court students on ‘The Art of Advocacy’ February 19th, 7:30PM in Bannan Hall room 127.

McManis, a graduate of Bolt Hall, has practiced law for over 40 years in the Bay Area. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.

His lecture kicks off a three part series on Advocacy, which the firm has volunteered to conduct pro bono.

The final lecture is on ‘Appellate Etiquette and Strategy in Oral Argument,’ led by Gregory Ward, who is of counsel at McManis Faulkner. Ward is a retired superior court judge, and author of the practice guide titled “California Objections.” February 19th, 7:30PM, in Bannan Hall room 127.

McManis-Faulkner is nationally regarded as a litigation firm, taking on high profile cases such as: Ibrahim v. Department of Homeland Security, 669 F.3d 983 (9th Cir. 2012), which involved a Stanford PhD student, and is the first case to successfully challenge a placement on the government ‘no fly’ list.
