Course Description:
This course will provide upper division law students with the opportunity to study the areas of law which were eliminated from Torts when the course was reduced from six units to four. These areas include Defamation (Common Law Background, Constitutional Limitations on Defamation); Privacy (Public Disclosure of Private Facts, False Light Privacy, Intrusion, Appropriation); Intentional Economic Harm (Misrepresentation, Interference with Contracts, Interference with Prospective Economic Advantage, Contracts and Torts in the Economic Sphere). Other potential topics include Introduction to Insurance, Incremental Tort Reform, Occupational Injuries –Workers’ Compensation, Motor Vehicle Injuries, and no-Fault Schemes. UP point eligible course.
