Santa Clara Law is a leader in law school diversity: it is among the top ten most diverse law schools in the U.S. Our students and alumni founded the Diversity Gala in order to foster an atmosphere of inclusion for these young lawyers. The Diversity Gala is an opportunity to form relationships that develop into mentorships, to be assured by representatives from participating organizations that diversity is highly valued and to recognize the contributions that prominent members of the legal profession have made to further the interest of minority groups. Historically, the Diversity Gala draws approximately 300 guests a year, comprised of about 150 Santa Clara Law students and 150 members of the judiciary and bar.

There is no charge to attend the Diversity Gala. However, the Gala is the Law School's primary means to raise funds for the Thurgood Marshall Civil Rights Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to an entering law student who has demonstrated commitment to equality, inclusion and social justice for the diverse ethnic social groups that Justice Marshall worked diligently to protect throughout his career as a lawyer and a jurist. We encourage event sponsorships and individual contributions to this scholarship fund.

To make an online donation to this fund, please visit the online giving page. In the designation box, indicate that your donation is directed towards the Thurgood Marshall Civil Rights Scholarship Fund.
