Student Registration Begins for 2014 West Coast International LL.M. Job Fair
Nov 4 – Dec 3 all-day

Inaugurated in April 2007, the West Coast International LL.M. Job Fair is a recruitment venue for employers who are interested in enlisting international legal talents and for internationally trained lawyers who are currently enrolled in an LL.M. program at a participating law school. UCLA School of Law serves as the event’s organizer and host while a consortium of 19 campuses participate in the program. Interested employers will have the opportunity to pre-select LL.M. candidates from a collective pool of high caliber students who represent many countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. The 2014 West Coast International LL.M. Job Fair will be held on February 21 at UCLA School of Law.

During the Registration Period—Monday, November 4 to Tuesday, December 3, 2013, you will need to do the following:

To Register for the 2014 West Coast LL.M. Fair

 • Go to https://law-westcoastllm-csm.symplicity.com/students/

 • Click on the “Register” button.

 • Complete the form with your information and click “Submit.”

 • Verify your email address by following the instructions sent via a Symplicity-generated message to the email address you have provided.

To Upload Your Resume:

• Log on to https://law-westcoastllm-csm.symplicity.com/students/. Your login and password will be sent to you via a Symplicity message after your email verification and your coordinator’s approval of your registration.

 • Click on the “Documents” tab in the home screen.

 • Click on “Add New.”

 • Name the document in the “Label” field and select the appropriate document type.

 • Enter the file name or click on “Browse” to upload your resume and/or other relevant documents.

 • You may upload more than one version of your resume, but if you do, you must select one to be the default. The system will allow you to upload multiple resumes, and select which ones to upload for specific employers.

• When finished, click the “Submit” tab.

Bio: As Vice President, and, later, Business Development Chair for The Emerald Agency, LLC, Attorney Search Division, Kim guided major law firms through the complex task of finding and partnering with qualified, profitable, and relevant legal talent. She also served as a trusted liaison to a distinguished variety of attorneys and law firms. Ms. Jenkins was formerly Director of Attorney Recruiting for Randstad Professionals (formerly The Mergis Group) – a $22.5 billion global provider of HR services and the second largest staffing organization in the world. As Director of Attorney Recruiting, Kim was responsible for directing and maintaining a national recruiting team that specializes in the placement of associates, partners, and practice groups, as well as, law firm mergers.

Mr. Al Spector: Management Consultant, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, Strategic Sourcing for Resources Global Professionals

Bio: Al Spector has combined a career in senior level corporate management with his vision and drive as a social entrepreneur. In addition to 13 years as a corporate lawyer, Mr. Spector’s business experience spans operations, supply chain/logistics, strategic sourcing, sales, and customer service. He has held posts at and/or consulted to several Fortune 200 global manufacturing/marketing/service organizations in the following industries: telecom, consumer electronics, industrial equipment/supply, and pharma/biotech. Mr. Spector’s posts and projects have included in-house legal counsel for WW Grainger’s industrial distribution network; international logistics management for Thomson Multimedia (RCA)’s North American operations; sales for Savi Technology’s RFID-based containerized cargo tracking solution, and a series of consulting assignments for national and global clients in various strategic sourcing and distribution/logistics matters, including advising Bayer HealthCare, Verizon, Kaiser Permanente, and AutoDesk,

Topic of Program: Ms. Jenkins and Mr. Spector will discuss strategies, tips and techniques to create and maintain a high performing, highly competitive “marketing package” for the legal market. Both Ms. Jenkins and Mr. Spector will provide their advice, insight, perspectives and expertise in these areas. Advertising, Consumer Protection, & Privacy Law: An Emerging Practice with Exciting Career Opportunities @ Santa Clara University, School of Law

Join young attorneys from the ABA Antitrust Section for a discussion about exciting new career opportunities in advertising, consumer protection, and privacy law.  This program will provide students and other junior attorneys with the opportunity to dialogue with young attorneys in the field about pathways into these emerging areas of the law.  It will also include a broad overview of the relevant laws and agencies that operate within the fields.  The discussion will conclude with an opportunity to ask questions about what led the speakers to these fields.

Rachel A. Rubin, Oracle
Rachel Rubin is corporate counsel at Oracle Corporation, where she counsels on intellectual property, advertising, promotions, branding, and content regulation matters.  She works closely with the brand marketing, advertising, and product teams.  Ms. Rubin handles marketing, sponsorship, event, and intellectual property licensing agreements, and manages the company’s global trademark and copyright portfolios.  Ms. Rubin previously practiced intellectual property litigation at Reed Smith LLP in Century City, California, where she focused on advertising, trademark, copyright, social media, and entertainment matters.

Ms. Rubin serves as a Vice Chair on the ABA Antitrust Section Private Advertising Litigation Committee.  She volunteers as a mentor with YearUp Bay Area, and with Sierra Club Green Home on sustainability and green advertising.  She is also an instructor at The Dailey Method.  Ms. Rubin received her BA from the University of California, Berkeley with high honors, and her JD from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where she was Editor in Chief of the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly.

Yan Fang, Federal Trade Commission
Yan Fang is an attorney with the Federal Trade Commission’s Western Regional Office in San Francisco, where she focuses on enforcing consumer protection laws related to advertising and privacy.  Before joining the agency, Ms. Fang clerked for Judge Deborah L. Cook of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and for Judge Nancy F. Atlas of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.  She earned her law degree from University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where she was the managing editor of the California Law Review and a fellow with the Berkley Center for Law and Technology.   She earned her undergraduate degree from Harvard College.

Claudia Maria Vetesi, Morrison & Foerster LLP
Claudia Vetesi focuses her practice on the defense of consumer class actions, and on complex commercial litigation, including unfair competition, false advertising, contract and licensing disputes, privacy issues, financial services litigation, and trade secrets misappropriation.  She regularly counsels clients in the food, retail, financial, and technology industries.  She also represents companies in false advertising disputes before the National Advertising Division (“NAD”) of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc.

Recently, Ms. Vetesi successfully defended a class action lawsuit against a national bank on civil rights discrimination claims.  She presented oral argument before the California Court of Appeal, and the case resulted in a published opinion.  Ms. Vetesi is also currently defending numerous food manufacturers in class actions and other litigation involving food misbranding claims.

Ms. Vetesi has also handled arbitrations.  Last year, she served as the Administrative Secretary assisting an International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”) tribunal to decide a commercial dispute between Israeli and Chinese parties governed by UK law.

Earlier this year, she completed a secondment in the U.S. Commercial Law group of a major consumer electronics company.

Ms. Vetesi is active in the firm’s pro bono efforts, and has appeared in federal court numerous times on behalf of clients in various criminal matters.  She is a recipient of the State Bar of California’s Wiley W. Manuel Award for public service.

Ms. Vetesi received her J.D. degree from Berkeley Law (Boalt Hall School of Law) in 2004, where she was a former associate editor of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal.  She also competed twice in the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.  During law school, Ms. Vetesi externed for the Honorable John T. Noonan, United States Court of Appeals Judge for the Ninth Circuit, and for Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero of the Northern District of California.
