Institute For Justice Summer Grant

The Center for Social Justice and Public Service (CSJ) is pleased to announce a new summer grant opportunity for law students. The grant, made possible by the generosity of Professor David Friedman, will fund two law students to work at the Institute for Justice (IJ), a libertarian public interest law firm. The students will provide support for IJ's litigation docket. Founded in 1991, IJ provides litigation and advocacy, both in courts of law and in the court of public opinion, on behalf of individuals whose most basic rights are denied by the government, www.ij.org/mission. Office locations include Washington, DC, Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, Texas, and Washington.

The total award amount for a full-time summer internship is $5,000 per student.

Interested SCU law students must successfully complete the IJ hiring process; applications are due NO LATER THANJanuary 23, 2012. You should indicate that you are a Santa Clara law student within your cover letter and in the notes section of the IJ online application. Obtain the application by visiting http://ij.org/internships. The Institute for Justice will select students for placement; students must then apply to the Center for Social Justice to receive the funding through the Center's summer grant application process, indicating accepted placement with IJ.
