Paula Ettelbrick In Memoriam
October 09, 2011 at 10:14 AM

I am sad to report that Paula Ettelbrick, long time legal crusader for LGBT rights, died early Friday morning. The email from Marianne and Suzanne was the first one I read Friday morning. I spent much of my day trying to bring back to life the many memories I have of time spent with Paula, arguing about marriage rights, working creatively to define family, trying to explain how tax law figured into all off it. I got to know Paula during my 8 year term on the Lambda board in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She was one of the feistiest legal advocates I know and I count myself blessed to have experienced her friendship in the midst of that feistiness. The New York Times reports her death here.

An important tribute and recognition of Paula Ettlekbrick. She dedicated her career to GLBT rights. I agree with her work and views that same-sex marriage is an important right to seek and I am grateful for it here in CT, but also to strive for the recognition of all glbt families and people in whatever form their families take. Equality and Respect for All.
