An important note from the Law Financial Aid and Bursar Offices:

Financial Aid Loan Disbursement and Refunds for Spring 2013

A loan disbursement occurs when loan proceeds are electronically sent and posted to your student account at Santa Clara University. The earliest student loan disbursement date for the Spring 2013 term will be January 7, 2013. (Please disregard any notices you may find, such as from Direct Loans, that may state a different date.)

The loan disbursement date is different from the date Santa Clara processes its term/semester refunds. University policy is to begin refunding AFTER the add/drop period for each term/semester. This process is in compliance with Federal Regulations relating to refunds of Title IV funds.

In line with Santa Clara policy, refunds for the Spring 2013 semester will be processed beginning Tuesday, January 22, 2013 due to the observance of the Martin Luther King holiday.

If you need financial assistance before spring refunds are issued, please consider some of the options presented in this email. Pre-qualified refunds will not be available due to the timing of the Undergraduate and Graduate program start dates for the winter term.

If you did not take out the maximum amount of your original loan offer for this academic year, you may be eligible to apply for an additional loan with funds to be disbursed in Fall or as soon as possible. Alternately, an additional loan could be offered for certain other costs, such as a lap top or health insurance that you purchased this Fall semester. To determine if you may be eligible, and for the instructions on how to submit the loan request, please visit the Law Financial Aid Office in Heafey 148 or call (408) 554-5048.

If you do not qualify for a loan increase, you may consider applying for an Emergency Loan up to a maximum of $1,500. There is a nominal application fee of $50 and students are required to meet the terms and conditions of the loan program. Applications for the Emergency Loan will be made available in the Enrollment Services Center (AES Building) on December 17. Approved loans will be disbursed via direct deposit beginning January 4, 2013.
