Information About the San Francisco City Attorney's Office
June 19, 2009 at 3:15 PM

We had the opportunity to speak with Laurel Turner of the San Francisco City's Attorney's Office today to discuss their recent job posting. She mentioned that they liked to have a wide diversity in schools, skills and backgrounds and took a "whole resume review" approach, rather than concentrating primarily on class ranking or GPA. She said their best interns usually had some sort of work experience in the past, but that it did not need to be legal in nature. She said that they do not see as many resumes as they would like from SCU, and assumed that most of our students preferred working in the South Bay.

Laurel said that they presently have a terrific opportunity in their Airport division. This internship would involve working at the San Francisco Airport on leases with the concessionaires, the FAA, security issues and general business. The City provides a parking pass, and apparently the offices are very nice! It is an excellent opportunity for someone with a car who lives in the mid or upper Peninsula. If this particular position is interesting to you, please mention it in your cover letter.

A couple of things to note: They City Attorney's Office will not accept e-mail resumes and cover letters. Please send hard copies of these documents to Marissa Moret, City Hall, Rm 234, #1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, San Francisco, CA 94102. The deadline, which was extended once, but will not be extended again is June 26. If you get pressed for time, they will accept Federal Express deliveries. For more information about S.F.
