Government Honors Programs and Upcoming Deadlines for 2012-2013
August 21, 2012 at 2:23 PM

A Government Honors Program is a short- or long-term service opportunity at Federal government agencies.

Most Federal government entry-level legal hires are done through honors programs at individual Federal agencies. Many Federal agencies also offer internships (paid and unpaid) to law students, which provide considerable practical experience and often post-graduate employment. Each agency has its own application process, selection criteria and deadlines.

Application deadlines vary depending on the agency and whether you are a 2L or a 3L.  Some are also on a rolling basis.  Be sure to carefully monitor the deadlines to ensure you don't miss an opportunity to apply!

Details of these programs are provided in the 2011-12 Government Honors & Internship Handbook, located on on the Law Career Services Claranet page. To access the handbook after finding it on the Claranet page, use the user name and password that is written in the link.
