University of Virginia Miller Center of Public Affairs

Today’s New York Times has a brief article noting that the Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia will conduct an oral history of the George W. Bush administration. I took a look at their website to see what else they have. The answer is quite a lot:

Under Public Policy, the final report (2008) of the National War Powers Commission, with web appendices, biographical information about the commissioners, and press coverage. The Public Policy section of the website also links to reports from nine other National Commissions on, e.g., Presidential Transitions and Foreign Policy (1986), the Selection of Federal Judges (1996), and Federal Election Reform (2001).

Under the heading Public Programs, there is a video archive of discussions on topics such as Affirmative Action, Energy, Immigration, and Iran.

The Presidential Oral History section is under the heading Academic Programs and includes oral histories of past U.S. presidents beginning with Jimmy Carter. Under the same heading, you’ll find (then secret) presidential recordings from 1940 to 1973.

In the Scripps Library multimedia archive, you’ll find hundreds of presidential speeches and debates.
