March 25th marks the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome – the founding document of the European Economic Community (EEC) or ‘Common Market.’ Originally composed of six European countries, the EEC has become what is now known as the European Union, expanding to include 27 countries, 23 official languages, and 490 million people.

For five decades, there has been no war between member countries.

Does anyone believe that the European Union is positioning itself as a new global power? What I mean is does anyone think that the EU is trying to become one country and thus a new world super power?
