The webpage of the new (as of October 1, 2009) Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, has information about its formation and procedures. The highest court in the United Kingdom was established by the Constitutional Reform Act 2005, replaces the Appellate Committee of the House of Lords, and will hear appeals from England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, except for criminal appeals from Scotland. Proceedings will be filmed, a first for the United Kingdom. Here is some additional information about the opening and the court’s first ruling.
