Tax Protest in the Digital Age

On June 8th, the IRS requested comments (Notice 2009-46) about a 1989 law which taxes employees for personal use of company cell phones (26 U.S.C. sections 274(d)(4) and 280F(d)(4)(a)(v)). Several blog postings and news stories later, Treasury Secretary Geithner and IRS Commissioner Shulman asked Congress to repeal the law.
