RAND Corporation

Today’s Scout Report includes an entry about this RAND Corporation website, listing 60 ways in which RAND has made a difference on the world stage since its beginnings in 1945. Several of the 60 are related to law and policy. A particularly nice thing about the pop-up list is that it links to RAND publications, many of which are available free and in full-text. I haven’t figured out a way to view the list, except in a pop-up window, one-by-one in sequence. So, here are some suggestions about some ways you might find interesting:

9 Conducting the First Comprehensive Historical Research on Nation-Building

11 Establishing the First Database of Terrorist Incidents
14 Defining the Rules of Privacy in a Computerized World
21 Developing the Breakthrough Concept for the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe
34 Clarifying the Debate on Immigration
43 Collecting a Wealth of Demographic Information Through Third-World Surveys
46 Changing Attitudes Toward Sexual Orientation in the Military

The 60 Ways report celebrates RAND’s 60th anniversary, in 2008; there appears to have been some link rot. However, more documents and reports are available at RAND’s main website.
