An article in Sunday’s New York Times, also available online -- Gretchen Reynolds, What Sort of Exercise can make you smarter? -- reports on a study with a much less catchy title published in the Journal of Physiology. According to the study, mice who were forced to run on a treadmill mastered a more complex task more easily than mice left to run at will on the rodent wheels in their cages. There are eight treadmills at the Malley Center if you’re interested in seeing what exercise can do for human brains.
