Harvard's Amicus
November 20, 2009 at 9:27 AM
This week’s Scout Report links to Amicus, an online supplement to the Harvard Civil Rights - Civil Liberties Law Review. According to the summary at the Amicus website, Amicus has three sections: Recent Developments (articles about recent legislation and decisions), Policy Pieces (proposals to address local and national civil rights and civil liberties issues) and CR-CL Conversations (an idea exchange).
Online journal supplements like Amicus are quite popular. Although the supplements are often in pdf and look like law review pages, they generally don’t appear anywhere in print. For a recently updated table listing most of the online supplements, see Colin Miller’s Submission Guide for Online Law Review Supplements on SSRN and his Evidence Prof Blog posting about it. For a critique of online supplements, see Five Tips for Online Law Review Supplements. Anthony Ciolli’s posting on First Movers lists a few supplements such as Virgina Law Review: In Brief, U. Pa. L. Rev. PENNumbra, Yale L.J. Pocket Part (which now appears to be called YLJ Online), and Mich. L. Rev. First Impressions.
