October 15, 2009 at 3:26 PM

Over the weekend, Ronald George, the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court, spoke to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in Cambridge, Massachusetts, about the shortcomings of California’s referendum process.

Places to look for additional information about the process include:

The UC Hastings California Ballot Propositions and Ballot Initiatives databases and additional websites from the California Secretary of State and the California Attorney General

Ballot Measure Information and Analysis from the UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies

The portion of the Legislative Analyst’s Office website devoted to Ballot Propositions

Reports and Publications from the Center for Governmental Studies

and the Initiative and Referendum Institute at the University of Southern California (USC), which lists all states’ statewide initiatives since 1904
