The California Supreme Court unanimously denied a stay to the marriage equality ruling (In Re Marriage Cases).  Same-gender marriage will begin in California starting on June 17, 2008.  Already a number of local community groups are planning to hold events at county clerk offices to celebrate and receive marriage certificates.
