British Lawmaking: Silly and Serious

A British television station gave watchers a list of obsolete laws and asked them to vote for the most ridiculous. My favorite – mince pies cannot be eaten on Christmas Day – did not receive many votes.

Queen Elizabeth II’s address to Parliament on Tuesday apparently produced the article, if not the poll. The text of the Queen’s speech is available at the Parliament website, as is the text of the debate that followed.  There is also video.
