Banned Books Week 2011
September 24, 2011 at 10:12 AM

Banned Books Week begins today and continues through the end of September, sponsored by the ALA and other organizations of booksellers, libraries, journalists and authors. One of the online resources this year is an interactive map, plotting where censorship is most prevalent in the U.S. There are several little blue stickers for Northern California. Mouse over for details. Another is the Banned Books Week Virtual Readout on YouTube, where people read selections from banned or challenged books (e.g., Ulysses, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harry Potter…) or describe a local challenge to reading material. Take a moment this week to read.
