Arguments in U.S.A. v. Arizona
November 01, 2010 at 1:34 PM
A three-judge panel on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments today on the Justice Department’s challenge to Arizona Senate Bill 1070, allowing Arizona law enforcement officials to check an individual’s immigration status and to search someone reasonably suspected of having committed a crime which could result in deportation. The case has attracted considerable attention nationwide.
In an educational outreach, the court made video streams of today’s proceedings available on C-Span, to several law schools throughout the country and to selected federal courts. The Ninth Circuit website considers the Arizona case one of interest and provides public access to court documents on its website.
