Law Review Symposium: Self-driving Vehicles
January 17, 2012 at 3:59 PM
Santa Clara Law Review will host the first ever legal symposium to explore the legal implications of self-driving vehicles this Friday Jan 20th.
Autonomous cars may seem futuristic, but in fact, they are already here: Google, BMW, and Volkswagen are among those getting attention for their pilot programs.
But who bears legal responsibility if an autonomous car causes an accident--the manufacturer or the passenger?
And what other transportation law will need to be rewritten in order to make room on the road for autonomous cars?
Dozens of speakers and panelists from government, academia and law firms will share their publications, give presentations, and take questions in what promises to be a lively day of exploration and debate.
When: Friday, Jan. 20. From 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., including an evening reception. (Attendees are not required to stay the full day.)
Where: Paul L. Locatelli, S.J., Student Activity Center on SCU’s campus.
Tickets are free for students and faculty. $120 for the general public. CLE credit for lawyers is $30 for non-alumni.
Food will be provided off and on throughout the day.
