In accepting employment to pursue litigation to judgment on behalf of a client, be sure that the client understands that judgment does not necessarily mean payment of the judgment. You may encounter a judgment debtor unable to pay the judgment and without sufficient assets reachable by execution, or a debtor unwilling to pay, in which case time and resource consuming enforcement work will be necessary. Moreover, enforcement work may be aborted by the intervention of bankruptcy.
Your retainer agreement with a client for whom you will pursue litigation seeking judgment should make clear whether or not your responsibility extends to efforts to enforce the judgment.
